the time's almost here

so I am finally finishing my Bachelors in Religious Studies I will be done in December 2011. My B.A. is an informality because I want a masters in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). The reason my journey took longer than most is because I have been through a lot for someone my age. I lost my mother to God two years ago (which is okay because I am happy for her), I moved to U.S.A. and basically had to start from scratch education wise (low Math and English score, but that soon changed). I thrived in college and transfered to University of California, Santa Barbara where I am doing okay for someone in my position. Someone wise once said "It's not the education that's hard, studies are easy, it's the financial troubles that get a normal working class student" I believe there are so few opportunities for students with low income in my area. There are many in sciences and engineering (at least in California). I have been struggling to balance everything and it is very difficult. It's affected my spiritual and personal life, I lost touch with people that matter most to me and that is unacceptable. I need to try to balance my life and keep in touch with people I love especially my old friends. I think I need to break free and discover myself through teaching English in Korea because I'll be doing something I love and gaining experience I need to not be a student for at least one year out of my 17+ years of constant studies.

how to make the best and simple spagetti

mmmMM spagetti, okay so start with basic ingredients spagetti, 1 tsp salt, 1tbsp olive oil, 1 lb ground beef, 3 or more minced garlic cloves. small onion, 2 cans tomatoes(medium) or 1 big can blended, Italian seasoning (2 tbsp or more), 1/2tbsp salt, 1tbsp pepper, {1 tsp of chili paste (sambal olek works best) or 2 green chilies}-->optional, 1-2tbsp olive oil. Boil the water, add 1 tsp salt and oil, then add spagetti boil it according to the package. At the same time brown the meat with garlic, salt and pepper (do not add oil or anything to the pot/pan) just cook it till it's brown, mix with wooden spoon, leave some of meat uncooked. Then add blended tomatoes, chili, Italian seasoning and oil. Stirring with a wooden spoon works best. Boil it then let it simmer (turn it down to very low heat) then adjust the meat sauce according to your liking. Voila done! You can add grated parmesan, or mozzarella or pecorino romano cheese (I choose Pecorino) and serve!!!Hmmm deliciousness

let's talk about the Big R

So I am going to be unorthodox and post about Religion. I am currently a religious studies major and I am exploring social change or social justice. Today's world is changing everyone is demanding changes, answers and action. I am no one to suggest my agenda to you, however I can give you my scholarly opinions. So far I have noticed that no one has actually read the Bible, I am currently reading some chunks of it. Let me tell you Women had way more rights than what these priests claim! Jesus was born and raised Jewish and died Jewish. Crucifixion is a Roman punishment, think about it. Jesus is referred to rabbi many times by various authors (technically anonymous). There are problems with Islam, but I haven't gone into it yet. I have yet to study Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and others. Basically all religions have some problem or another, because the Holy books were written by man or re-written by others. Mistakes are bound to happen if you are copying a huge canon without modern technology. Many of you will probably take offense or think I am wrong, go ahead. Like I said I am just a scholar and these are my views :) the best thing I have noticed it that we are told over and over to CO-EXIST with others. TOLERATE other people's views and religion. Learn to LOVE, that is the only religion. I should create a cult and call it Love, the unitarian Church is promoting this, hopefully they continue.

my journey's about to end?

So I just realized I might be able to graduate early, that is if I pass this one class. God gave me this chance and I think I will be heartbroken if I don't pass! I have a feeling that things are changing so I have to have positive thoughts! I only need four classes after that! Imagine that! This year is full of of firsts. My citizenship, my graduation, my relationship with my friends and family. This is all happening so fast! I am currently enrolled in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) class. I plan to go to S. Korea which will be my adventure of a lifetime, not to mention I will finally be able to do what I love i.e. teach English to foreign students!! I am soo excited! This opportunity will help me pay off all my loans and other expenses. It will also help me grow and become independent! I cannot wait to start this new adventure! I love my life :)

of love, duty and earthly life

This year didn't start well for me but I have hopes yet for it. I really do not care about money nor things. Yes sometimes in this life we do need to have things in order to function as a person on this Earth. If I could I would not do anything but simply pray and meditate in order to progress in my ibadat. Unfortunately that is not possible as I have to fulfill my dharma. It's sad to know that no body in my family except for my aunt truly knows who I am. Some other family members only have seen a glimpse of it, even my father doesn't quiet realize who I am. Only He who is above all else and my lord Ali knows what's truly in my heart. As a person on this Earth I may seem cold because I am not attached to anything and I am learning how to function as a normal person in Earth. Perhaps I was born in Sat Yuga and I cannot handle how Kali yuga has become. The only thing I can do is love and pray for others at this point. See you in the next world
